BLUE VINES & BOVINE

Hand drawn original 30x30 framed

This collection is a confluence of contrasting geographies, aesthetics, and cultural rhythms. It is a visual dialogue between the sunbaked symbolism of the American Southwest, the introspective tones of the Northeast, and the ornate elegance of Dutch influence & history. Through this body of work, I explore what it means to inhabit the space between heritage and reinterpretation.

The Southwest offers bold iconography. Skulls, horns, desert flora are symbols of endurance and transformation. From the Northeast, I draw a quieter mood: misty landscapes, subtle textures, and introspective tones. Overlaid on these foundations is the delicate hand of Delftware. Cobalt blue florals, storytelling ceramics, and the timeless Dutch tradition turns domestic objects into vessels of beauty and meaning.

By fusing these elements, each piece becomes a kind of cultural hybrid — part artifact, part ornament, part talisman. Bones are not just remnants; they are canvases. Florals do not just decorate; they reclaim. This is art that lives in the threshold. Between wild and refined, past and present, utility and ornament.

These pieces are where borders blur, where desert meets rain, where tradition meets invention, and where stories old and new bloom in unexpected color.
